Theme license

WARNING

The Shopify Theme Store is the sole authorized channel to purchase the Etheryx Shopify theme, ensuring that you adhere to Shopify and OpenThinking’s terms and conditions.

If we determine that your store is using an invalid theme license, we will automatically file a DMCA complaint and suspend your store.

TIP

All license-related issues have one solution: purchase a valid license from the Shopify Theme Store.

Important information

  • Your version of Etheryx must be purchased directly from the Shopify Theme Store.
  • Each store you operate requires a separate theme license.
  • The theme can be installed on only one (1) store.
  • Each subdomain is considered a unique store and requires its own theme license.
  • Theme “styles” or “presets” are built-in features of the theme. Using different styles or presets across multiple stores without separate licenses violates the terms.

Additional Notes

  • All theme purchases are made through the Shopify Theme Store, not directly from us.
  • We cannot transfer theme licenses.
  • We actively monitor and verify theme licenses when providing support.
  • Your store must use a licensed theme to receive support or download the latest version of a theme.
  • If we determine that your store is using an invalid theme license, we will file a DMCA complaint and suspend your store.

License transfer

Each Shopify store requires its own valid theme license, as stated in Shopify's Terms of Service. A purchased theme can only be used on a single store. You may transfer a theme license to another store only if the original store using that license has been closed.

NOTE

To transfer a theme license, contact Shopify Support's billing department for assistance.

Unlicensed theme

If your theme was set up by an agency, designer, or developer, you may not be aware of potential licensing issues. It’s important to verify with them that a proper license has been secured. If the issue remains unresolved, you must purchase a valid license from the Shopify Theme Store.

Themes purchased from third-party marketplaces like Fiverr, eBay, Etsy, Creative Market, Template Monster, or through a development agency are not valid.

NOTE

A valid license can be acquired simply by purchasing the Etheryx theme from the Shopify Theme Store.

Licensing issue

The Action required: Licensing issue message appears when your store is using a theme that doesn’t have a valid license.

Common causes include:

  • The theme was purchased for a different store and reused without a new license.
  • The theme was downloaded or purchased from a third-party marketplace (like Etsy, Fiverr, Telegram, a randonm forum, etc.)
  • A developer installed an unlicensed or pirated version of the theme while building your store.

TIP

To resolve this issue, purchase a valid license directly from the Shopify Theme Store. This is the only official source for licensed theme purchases.

If a valid license is not obtained:

  • The theme will be disabled, and you will not be able to publish or make changes to it.
  • A DMCA notice may be filed.
  • Your store will be at risk of closure.

DMCA Notification

If you receive a DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) notification from Shopify, it means your store may not have a valid theme license.

To prevent any disruptions to your store, follow the instructions in the Shopify DMCA email promptly to resolve the issue with Shopify.

Discounts and coupons

All theme purchases, licensing, payments, and refunds are handled entirely by Shopify, not us. This means we don’t have access to billing details or the ability to offer discounts or coupons.

FAQs

Do you provide refunds?

No, we do not provide refunds. Our themes are non-tangible, irrevocable digital products, so all theme purchases are final and non-refundable. We encourage you to carefully review the theme details before making a purchase.

Do you offer discounts or coupons?

No, we do not offer discounts. The current price already reflects the theme’s best value.

In addition, all theme purchases, licensing, payments, and refunds are handled entirely by Shopify, not us. This means we don’t have access to billing details or the ability to offer discounts or coupons.

Can I use the theme on multiple stores?

No, each theme license allows it to be installed on one (1) store only.

Here’s how it works:

  • Each subdomain is treated as a unique store, meaning a separate license is required for each.
  • Theme “styles” or “presets” are part of the theme. Using these across multiple stores without a separate license is against the Shopify terms.
Can I transfer a theme to a different shop?

Yes, you can transfer a theme to a different shop you own, but only if you close the original shop where the theme was purchased.

To do this:

I get “Action required: licensing issue” on my store—now what?

This notice means your theme is being used without a valid license. Common reasons include:

  • You purchased a theme and used it on a different store.
  • You obtained the theme from a third-party marketplace (like Etsy or Fiverr).
  • You purchased a single-store license but are using it on multiple stores.
  • A third-party developer installed a pirated version of the theme when developing a custom solution for you.

To fix this, purchase a valid license directly from the Shopify Theme Store.

If a valid license is not obtained, the theme will be disabled, a DMCA notice may be filed, and your store will be at risk of closure.
