Free shipping bar
Markets threshold
You can set different free shipping thresholds per market/currency so that each threshold reflects local currency values. For example, if your USD threshold is $100, you might set 15000 in Japanese Yen. This ensures customers in each market see the correct free shipping requirement. To enable this, you need to configure a few specific settings in your online store.
Metafields
First you need to create a new market metafield.
From your Shopify admin, go to
Settings → Metafields and metaobjects → Metafield definitionsClick

Gift wrapping
v2 and above
Offer a gift wrapping service in the cart drawer and on the cart page. Shoppers switch it on with a single toggle, and can leave a gift message with it.
Gift wrapping is a real product in your catalog, which is what lets you charge for it and see it on the order like any other item.
Create the gift wrap product
From your Shopify admin, go to
Products, then click Add productFill in the product just as you would any other:
Setting Description Title What shoppers see next to the toggle, e.g. Gift wrappingDescription OptionalA good place to describe the paper and ribbon you use Media OptionalA photo of your wrapping Price Enter 0to offer gift wrapping for freeUnder Inventory, uncheck
Inventory trackedWARNING
If you leave inventory tracking on, shoppers can't add gift wrapping once the count reaches zero — and on stores with more than one location it will fail straight away. Turn it off unless you genuinely have a limited number of wraps.
Under Shipping, uncheck
Physical productNOTE
Unless your wrapping needs to be weighed and shipped on its own.
Under Variants, don't add any options. Gift wrapping needs a single-variant product.
Click Save
IMPORTANT
Leave the gift wrapping product out of your collections so it doesn't show up next to your regular products. However, shoppers may still come across it in a few places, such as search results, product recommendations, and the /collections/all page.
Select it in the theme
- From your Shopify admin, go to
Online Store → Themes - Click Customize on the theme you want to edit
- Open
Theme settings → Cart → Gift wrapping - Under Product, select the gift wrap product you just created
- Optionally, keep Enable gift message ticked so shoppers can leave a short message
- Click Save
TIP
Selecting the product is what turns gift wrapping on — there's no separate enable switch. To turn it off again, clear the Product setting.
Choose which products can be wrapped
By default, gift wrapping is offered on every product. To leave some out (for example, products that already come wrapped) or to offer it on only a few, use a product metafield.
From your Shopify admin, go to
Settings → Metafields and metaobjects → Products, then click Add definitionFill in the definition:
Setting Value Name Gift wrapNamespace and key openthinking.gift_wrapType True or falseClick Save
Open any product and set Gift wrap in its Metafields section
Then pick how the theme uses it under Theme settings → Cart → Gift wrapping → Offer on:
| Offer on | Metafield not set | Metafield True | Metafield False |
|---|---|---|---|
| All products (default) | Offered | Offered | Not offered |
| Marked products only | Not offered | Offered | Not offered |
The gift wrap toggle shows when at least one product in the cart can be wrapped.
TIP
Leave products unset if you want gift wrap on everything. You only need the metafield to make exceptions.
Where the gift message appears
The message shoppers type is saved on the order as an additional detail named Gift message. You'll find it on the order page in your Shopify admin, and it carries through to your packing slips and to any app that reads order attributes.
IMPORTANT
Gift wrapping applies to the whole order, not to individual items — one wrap, one message per order.
Announcements bar
Add announcements to your cart to share important messages or promotions with customers. This helps keep them informed and can encourage purchases.
To set different announcements for each language use the Translate & Adapt app:
- Make sure you've installed the Translate & Adapt app.
- Open the Translate & Adapt app, then go to Theme → Theme settings
- In the left sidebar, click Cart.
- Under Announcement Message, enter the message for the selected language.
- Repeat these steps for each language you want to support.
